About AVHS
AVHS is a specialist occupational medical service founded by Veterans, for Veterans. We support Defence personnel in their transition to civilian life by providing expert assistance with DVA Claims, Permanent Impairment Assessments, ADF Transition Medicals and private pilot medical assessments for CASA and FAA. We complement established medical and ex‑service organisations with our collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, ensuring veterans receive the care and support they deserve.
Aboutthe Opportunity
Due to continued growth and increasing demand, we are seeking Medical Officers (FRACGP) to join our modern clinic in Springfield. You will deliver non‑acute care to veterans in‑person (some telehealth required), ensuring access to quality healthcare across urban, rural and remote communities. Your days will be varied, with a mix of clinical work, team collaboration, documentation and community engagement.
Occupational Medicine Specialists are strongly encouraged to apply and can attract a higher rate!
Role Responsibilities- Support veterans in their transition from defence by conducting medical examinations, including initial and functional assessments.
- Work with veterans to develop and implement medical plans that support their wellbeing in line with established protocols and guidelines.
- Prepare, distribute and review referrals to specialists and imaging providers.
- Maintain precise and up‑to‑date patient records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with our exceptional team of medical, allied health and administrative staff to provide quality care to veterans at all stages of their journey.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to staff as required.

With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you can collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders to provide holistic support to the veteran community. You are detail‑oriented, committed to continuous learning and quick to adapt to the requirements and needs of the role.
MandatoryRequirements
- Current general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in General Practice
- Proficiency in medical software and electronic health records
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in veteran mental health or military‑related services
- Understanding of military culture and service‑related health conditions
