NEPM News Intern - Summer

NEPM enriches people's lives through programs and services that educate, inspire, and entertain, fostering citizenship and culture, the joy of learning, and the power of diverse perspectives.

NEPM is a multi‑media organization producing and broadcasting radio, TV and digital content to western Massachusetts from our studios in Springfield. Our public radio services offer a mix of NPR news, classical and jazz.

Students will work alongside NEPM’s experienced news team, learn the basics and produce stories to air on the radio and appear on NEPM's website and social channels. This position does not have a remote option; it is based at NEPM's office in downtown Springfield.

• Reports to News Department Executive Editor
• Work independently and with other reporters to cover daily and enterprise stories in western Massachusetts.
• Schedule and perform interviews in the studio, by telephone and in the field.
• Report, voice and mix audio stories. Draft digital stories. Create social posts for their own or for other reporters' stories.

• Interested in journalism and public affairs
• Familiarity with news writing required
• Familiarity with digital audio production preferred
• Knowledge of Canva and Adobe Suite preferred
• Ability to work under deadline
  
  Access to a car and ability to drive is preferred but not required
• Collaborative approach and nature
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in work and presentation
• Willingness to learn
• Punctual

Paid Internship $17/hour (Part‑time). 8 hours per week (all in one full day).

• Dates:
  June 8th to August 14th.
• Candidates must have their own computer and access to Wifi.
• Candidates must be in an Undergrad or Grad program and have work authorization for the United States.
