Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) seeks to hire a purpose-driven, initiative-taking individual interested in assisting Illinois startups and small businesses launch, grow, and thrive. The Permitting Portal Coordinator is housed in the Office of Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Technology (OEIT) and will be tasked with building and maintaining a business permitting portal outlined in the statute. The goal is to improve the State's business climate by making it easier for entrepreneurs to navigate state requirements. Essential Functions

  • Under general direction, leads assigned statewide licensing and permitting portal sections.
  • Creates, curates, and updates content and leads stakeholder engagement for assigned sections of the Portal.
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Develops and leads training and outreach.
  • Provides administrative, budget, and project support.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completing four (4) college years, preferably with business or public administration courses.
  • Requires two (2) years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
  • Specialized Skills

  • Two (2) years of experience in content creation and management, search engine optimization (SEO), and user experience (UX) in website development or digital marketing.
  • Two (2) years of experience in roles involving technical training or educational responsibilities.
  • Two (2) years of experience in project management roles, preferably with experience in overseeing large-scale, technology-driven projects.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a role that requires understanding and implementing legislative and regulatory requirements affecting businesses.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers two (2) years of experience in content creation and management, search engine optimization (SEO), and user experience (UX), particularly in website development or digital marketing.
  • Prefers two (2) years of experience in roles involving technical training or educational responsibilities.
  • Prefers two (2) years of experience in project management roles, preferably with experience in overseeing large-scale, technology-driven projects.
  • Prefers two (2) years of experience in a role that requires understanding and implementing legislative and regulatory requirements affecting businesses.
  • Prefers two (2) years of proficient use of project management software such as Microsoft Project, Asana, Trello, or similar tools for creating, tracking, and managing tasks.
  • Prefers two (2) years of experience administrating a program requiring content assimilation from various organizations to accomplish goals.
  • Conditions of Employment

  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
  • Requires appropriate, valid driver's license.
  • Requires ability to travel to perform duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
