Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering with production Python and OSS workflows (tests, CI/CD, packaging, semantic versioning).
• Hands-on distributed training experience: PyTorch (DDP/FSDP) and one or more of Ray/Horovod/gRPC/NCCL.
• Built real‑time metrics/observability for distributed systems (Prometheus/Open Telemetry + dashboards in FastAPI/Flask/Streamlit/React/Plotly).
• Practical privacy‑preserving ML exposure (DP-SGD or secure aggregation)—integration and validation of privacy/utility.
• Proven ability to profile and optimize latency/throughput and reduce memory footprints.
• Strong documentation and OSS collaboration (meaningful PRs, code reviews, issue triage).

Preferred Qualifications

• Contributions to APPFL/APPFLx or related FL frameworks (Flower, FedML, OpenFL, PySyft, NVIDIA FLARE).
• HPC (SLURM) and/or Kubernetes experience for distributed training jobs.
• Experience with foundation model training/fine tuning (FSDP/ZeRO, sharded optimizers, parameter‑efficient methods).
• Front‑end skills (Type Script/React) for rich, interactive dashboards.

Experience in scientific/biomedical ML and data governance constraints
