Our mission is to provide supportive services and transitional housing to youth who are in and aging out of foster care and be a resource and support system for those who care for them.

Job Summary

The Child Welfare Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team of child welfare workers to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to children and families. The supervisor provides guidance, support, and supervision to staff, ensuring that all casework and interventions are conducted in compliance with state regulations and agency policies. The role requires a strong commitment to the safety, well-being, and permanency of children in the welfare system.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision and Leadership:

  • Provide direct supervision and support to a team of child welfare workers, ensuring effective case management and service delivery.
  • Conduct regular case reviews, offering feedback, guidance, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Facilitate team meetings, trainings, and professional development activities to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new staff members.
  • Address performance issues promptly, developing corrective action plans when necessary.
Case Management Oversight
  • Monitor the progress of cases, ensuring that all assessments, safety plans, and permanency goals are appropriately developed and implemented.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws, regulations, and agency policies related to child welfare.
  • Review and approve case documentation, including case notes, court reports, and service plans.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including law enforcement, healthcare providers, and educators, to coordinate services for children and families.
Crisis Intervention and Problem-Solving
  • Provide consultation and support to staff in crises, offering guidance on risk assessment and safety planning.
  • Assist staff in managing complex cases, providing direction on legal, clinical, and ethical issues.
  • Intervene in cases when necessary, providing direct support to children and families.
Quality Assurance and Improvement
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of services provided by the team, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ensure that all documentation is accurate, timely, and meets agency standards.
  • Participate in audits, reviews, and inspections as required by state agencies and accreditation bodies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve service delivery and outcomes for children and families.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Represent the agency in community meetings, forums, and collaborative efforts with other organizations.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and service providers.
  • Advocate for the needs of children and families within the community and the broader child welfare system.
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements

Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited school of social work or an academically equivalent Master’s degree in a human services field from an accredited school, plus 2 years of full-time experience in a social work or human services setting.

Experience and Skills
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a child welfare or related human services field.
  • Strong knowledge of child welfare laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in crises.
  • Experience in developing and implementing training and professional development programs.
