The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services seeks an organized, professional, and results‑oriented individual to serve as State Central Register Call Center Worker. The position provides statewide telephone coverage of a toll‑free number for reporting alleged child abuse and neglect. The worker makes pivotal decisions regarding intake and screening, secures necessary information for accurate diagnosis, and completes initial oral as well as subsequent reports related to child abuse/neglect and other child welfare services.
Responsibilities- Serve as State Central Register Call Center Worker.
- Provide telephone counseling or referral services for crisis situations; maintain familiarity with statewide resources for referral.
- Ensure all alleged reports of child abuse/neglect are entered accurately into the computer terminal.
- Monitor incoming written reports for CPS units.
- Perform other duties as reasonably within scope.
- Option 1: Master’s degree in social work or related human service field plus one year of directly related professional casework/case‑management experience focusing on family preservation, reunification, adoption, youth development, counseling, and advocacy.
- Option 2: Bachelor’s degree in social work with one year of directly related professional casework/case‑management experience in the same areas.
- Option 3: Bachelor’s degree in a related human service field with two years of directly related professional casework/case‑management experience in the same areas.
- University issuing the degree must be accredited, and social work programs must be approved by the Council on Social Work Education.
- Eligible for the Upward Mobility Program (UMP).
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Physical, visual, and auditory ability to carry out assigned duties.
- Willingness to work mandatory overtime.
