General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers warm, maintains a clean work area, follows company best-practice standards, presents merchandise properly, and engages in all store functions as business needs require. They may be asked to perform additional tasks that support customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions
  • Practice safe behaviours – safety is the number one priority.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor, keeping egress clear and reporting unsafe conditions to leadership.
  • Treat all customers and associates with respect, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Assist customers with merchandise and register transactions, greeting them with eye contact, a smile, and “hello” and “thank you.”
  • Provide prompt responses to customer service calls and handle issues courteously, escalating to leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks – sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high-touch areas, and maintaining merchandise and team areas.
  • Adhere to the Company’s dress code and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery, ensuring a neat, clean, and organized store that meets merchandising standards.
  • Expedite new merchandise receipts to the sales floor and merchandize per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, the Shortage Highway, the Store Protection Specialist position (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follow Mark-Out-of-Stock policies, process disposals, and notify leadership.
  • Follow all cash, check, charge card, refund, void, and offline procedures, maintaining accuracy with bankable tenders.
  • Demonstrate urgency to perform their role efficiently, maximizing productivity and minimizing workflow steps.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
  • Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
  • Stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
  • Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom shifts: push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
