Hospital PACU Nurse | Springfield, Illinois

A skilled Registered Nurse with a strong background in Post Anesthesia Care is needed for a contract position in Springfield, IL. This role focuses on providing exceptional care in a busy Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) within a Level I trauma center, renowned for its high standards and comprehensive services.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience; first-timers in this specialty are not accepted
• Active Illinois RN license is required; pending licenses are not accepted
• Certifications:
  
  BLS, ACLS, and PALS must be current and valid
• Previous experience in PACU nursing preferred
• Ability to manage complex patient care in an acute care hospital setting

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Monitor and care for patients recovering from anesthesia post-surgery according to established protocols
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient recovery
• Administer medications, assess vital signs, and respond promptly to any changes in patient conditions
• Maintain accurate documentation using Cerner electronic charting systems
• Participate in on-call duties as required, with flexible scheduling options discussed during the interview

Schedule:

• Mid shift, three 12-hour shifts per week (10:45 AM - 11:15 PM)
