Registered Nurse

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse provides skilled nursing care to patients in a Stepdown/PCU setting. Responsibilities include monitoring, administering medications, and responding to emergencies. The role requires experience in telemetry, neuro stepdown, and PCU environments, along with proficiency in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and various medical procedures.

Responsibilities:

- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
- Telemetry monitoring on the unit.
- Use of Rapid Response Teams.
- Post Cardiac Angiogram care.
- Post MI care.
- Pre/Post Cardiac Cath care.
- Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery care.
- Sheath Removal and TR Band application.
- Feeding tube care and management.
- Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management.
- Care for patients with Renal failure.
- Accessing Ports, Arterial line management, Blood Product Administration.
- Central line care/management, Phlebotomy, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Starting IVs.
- Heparin Protocols.
- Management of Cardiac drips (no titration).
- Management of Vasoactive drips (no titration).
- PCA administration.
- Procedural Sedation Administration.
- Care for patients with Craniotomy, CVA, Pre/Post neurosurgery, Spinal cord injury, Traumatic Brain injury.
- Care for patients with Ortho Trauma, Peripheral nerve block catheters, Total Joint Replacements.
- Care for patients with Skin grafts and Surgical drains.
- Care of Ventilated Patients.
- Chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac).
- External CPAP/BIPAP administration.
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) administration.
- Interpretation of ABGs.
- Nasal Cannula and Oxygen face mask administration.
- Portable Oxygen tank management.
- Non-invasive airway management.
- Tracheostomy Management.
- Isolation Precautions.
- Wound Care/Wound Vac application.
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs.

Required Skills &

Certifications:

- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois.
- BLS certification.
- NIH certification.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, or PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown.

- Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response.

- Experience with cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, genitourinary/renal, IV therapy/phlebotomy, medication, neurological/psychiatric, orthopedic, plastic surgery, and respiratory cases.

Preferred Skills &

Certifications:

- ACLS certification.
- Cerner experience.
- Teaching hospital experience.
- Level I Trauma experience.

Special Considerations:

- Will work every other weekend.
- May float as needed within scope.
- RTO ideally no more than 5 days.

Scheduling:
- 3x12 Nights ), able to accommodate 4x12s if candidate prefers.
- Discuss block scheduling with manager.
