Job Details
• Acute care hospital setting in a Stepdown/PCU/IMC unit,
• Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds,
• Patient population includes cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, gastrointestinal, renal, and post-surgical cases,
• Schedule is 3x12 night shifts ); 4x12 schedule may be accommodated,
• Every other weekend required,
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs,
• No on-call requirements,
• Charting system:
Cerner (experience preferred),
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction,
Job Requirements
• Active IL RN license required; pending licensure not accepted,
• Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required; ACLS preferred,
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required,
• Required setting experience:
Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC, or Stepdown unit,
• Cardiac monitoring skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, and Rapid Response Team utilization,
• Cardiovascular experience required:
Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, Sheath Removal, and TR Band,
• IV therapy skills required: port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care,
• Medication management skills required:
Heparin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management and titration, PCA, and procedural sedation administration,
• Respiratory skills required: ventilated patient care, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway management,
• Neurological case experience required: CVA, craniotomy, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury,
• Orthopedic experience required: ortho trauma, peripheral nerve block catheters, and total joint replacements,
• Additional skills required: feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, skin grafts, surgical drains, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions,
• Teaching hospital experience preferred,
• Level I Trauma experience preferred,
Additional Information
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position,
• RTO is ideally no more than 5 days for the duration of the assignment; all time-off requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration,
• Block scheduling may be discussed with the manager,
• Scrub color: any solid color,
• Parking is available on-site at no cost; a parking permit is obtained during orientation,
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years are required for consideration,
• A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required,
