Registered Nurse

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse will work in an IMC/General Onsite Telemetry unit, providing skilled nursing care to patients with an average daily census of 38. The role involves a 3x12 or 4x12 night shift schedule ), working every other weekend, and requires the ability to float to similar units as needed. The position requires strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills, as well as experience with various medical cases and procedures.

Responsibilities:

- Provide skilled nursing care to patients in the IMC/Telemetry unit.
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias.
- Perform telemetry monitoring, both on-unit and remote.
- Manage patients post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR band.
- Provide feeding tube care and management.
- Manage pre/post hemodialysis patients and patients with renal failure.
- Perform IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, and central/PICC/peripheral line care.
- Administer medications, including managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), PCA, and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips.
- Manage patients with CVA.
- Manage surgical drains.
- Provide respiratory care, including chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks.
- Practice isolation precautions and provide wound care/wound vac.
- Document patient care in Cerner.
- Float to like units as needed.

Required Skills &

Certifications:

- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois.
- ACLS and BLS certifications.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown.

- Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.

- Experience with telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote).

- Experience with post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR band.

- Experience with feeding tube care and management.

- Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure.

- Experience with accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, and central/PICC/peripheral line care.

- Experience with Heparin Protocols, managing cardiac drips (no titration), managing vasoactive drips (no titration), PCA, titrating cardiac drips, and titrating vasoactive drips.

- Experience with CVA patients.

- Experience with surgical drains.

- Experience with chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks.
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac.
- Cerner experience.

Preferred Skills &

Certifications:

- Previous charge experience.
- Teaching hospital experience.
- Level I Trauma experience.

Special Considerations:

- Will work every other weekend.
- Will float to like units as needed.
- RTO requests ideally no more than 5 days.
- Client may call-off up to 36 hours per thirteen week assignment without pay.

- Schedule requests can be discussed with the manager.
