Job Details
• IMC (Intermediate Care/Step-Down) unit within a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital,
• General onsite telemetry unit with an average daily census of 38 patients,
• Patient ratio of 1:5-7,
• Night shift schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 hours (18:45-07:15),
• Every other weekend required,
• Floating required to like units within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed,
• No on-call responsibilities,
• Uses Cerner for charting,
• Patient population includes cardiac, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, genitourinary/renal, neurological, and post-surgical cases,
• Cardiac monitoring including on-unit and remote telemetry,
• Cardiovascular case experience utilized:
Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, Sheath Removal, and TR Band,
• IV therapy skills utilized:
Accessing/Managing Ports, Arterial line management, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, PICC line management, and Starting IVs,
• Medication management includes Heparin Protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management with and without titration, and PCA,
• Respiratory skills utilized:
Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and non-invasive airway management,
• Additional skills utilized:
Feeding tube care, Pre/Post Hemodialysis management, renal failure management, CVA care, surgical drains, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions,
• 13-week assignment,
Job Requirements
• Active IL RN license required - pending licenses are not accepted,
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required (AHA or Red Cross only; RQI cards not accepted),
• NIHSS certification preferred,
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Telemetry, MS/Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC, or Stepdown setting required,
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR required,
• Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required,
• Experience with the full scope of IV therapy skills listed above required,
• Experience with cardiac drip titration, vasoactive drip titration, and Heparin Protocols required,
• Teaching hospital experience preferred,
• Level I Trauma experience preferred,
• Previous charge experience preferred,
• SSN and DOB required for consideration,
• Previous permanent or PRN employees of Memorial must have a 12-month gap before being considered as a traveler,

• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction,

• RTO of 5 days or fewer can be accommodated; requests beyond 5 days require facility approval,
• Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays,
• Any time off or scheduling requests should be submitted at the time of initial application,
