Solid foundation as an RN if new to travel nursing.
Experience in medical/surgical nursing.
Weekend availability:
Will work every other weekend.
Ability to float to other medical surgical units.
Telemetry and emergency response skills required.
IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required.
Description:
Position entails working in a medical surgical unit with a focus on urology and nephrology.
The average daily census is 23 patients on a 25-bed unit.
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in medical/surgical nursing.
First-time travelers are accepted, provided they have a solid foundation as an RN.
Responsibilities include pre/post hemodialysis management and care of renal failure patients.
nurses will be required to perform various IV therapies including blood product administration and central line management.
Chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, and high flow nasal cannula skills are also required.
Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care is expected.
Experience with Cerner charting system is required.
The unit frequently treats urology and nephrology illnesses, including kidney transplants.
Patients may also present with a variety of medical surgical diagnoses such as UTIs, pneumonia, and cellulitis.
Continuous bladder irrigation and postoperative care for kidney transplant patients are among the special procedures performed in this unit.
Nurses may encounter up to 7 patients on rare occasions and are expected to manage discharges and readmissions efficiently.
