Registered Nurse

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse provides skilled nursing care to patients in the Stepdown/PCU unit. This role involves monitoring telemetry, managing dysrhythmias, and responding to emergencies. The RN will also handle various patient care needs, including post-cardiac procedures, respiratory support, and neurological cases.

Responsibilities:

- Monitor and interpret telemetry readings.
- Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration).
- Provide care for patients with feeding tubes, renal failure, and those requiring hemodialysis.
- Perform IV therapy and phlebotomy, including accessing ports and managing central/PICC lines.
- Administer medications, including heparin protocols and PCA.
- Care for ventilated patients and manage tracheostomies.
- Perform wound care and maintain isolation precautions.
- Provide care for patients with neurological conditions such as CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury.
- Assist with post-operative care for orthopedic and plastic surgery patients.
- Float within scope to meet facility needs.

Required Skills &

Certifications:

- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, or PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown.
- BLS and NIH certifications.

- Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.

- Experience with telemetry monitoring and rapid response teams.

- Experience with post-cardiac procedures, respiratory support (including ventilators, chest tubes, and oxygen delivery), and neurological cases.

- Experience with arterial line management, blood product administration, and central/PICC line care.

Preferred Skills &

Certifications:

- ACLS certification.
- Cerner experience.
- Teaching hospital experience.
- Level I Trauma experience.

Special Considerations:

- Will work every other weekend.
- Will float as needed within scope of practice.
- RTO requests ideally no more than 5 days.
- Client may call-off up to 36 hours per thirteen week assignment without pay.

Scheduling:
- 3x12 Nights ), may be able to accommodate 4x12s.
- Discuss block scheduling options with manager.
