Registered Nurse

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse will provide skilled nursing care within an IMC/General Onsite Telemetry unit, working 3x12 or 4x12 night shifts ). Responsibilities include monitoring patients, administering medications, and responding to emergencies. The RN will also float to similar units as needed and must have experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings.

Responsibilities:

- Provide skilled nursing care to patients in the IMC/Telemetry unit.
- Monitor and interpret telemetry readings, managing dysrhythmias.
- Administer medications and manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration).
- Perform post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR band care.
- Manage feeding tubes and provide care for patients with renal failure, including pre/post hemodialysis management.
- Perform IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, and central/PICC line care.
- Provide neurological and psychiatric care for patients with CVA.
- Manage surgical drains and provide respiratory care, including chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP, and high flow nasal cannula.
- Implement isolation precautions and provide wound care/wound vac.
- Float to similar units within scope to meet facility needs.
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Cerner.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive patient care.

Required Skills &

Certifications:

- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a hospital setting.
- ACLS and BLS certifications.
- Experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings.

- Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
- Proficiency in cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, genitourinary/renal, IV therapy/phlebotomy, medication administration, neurological/psychiatric, respiratory, and wound care skills.

- Experience with Cerner charting system.

Preferred Skills &

Certifications:

- Previous charge nurse experience.
- Experience in a teaching hospital.
- Experience in a Level I Trauma center.

Special Considerations:

- Must be willing to work every other weekend.
- Will float to like units as needed.
- RTO Restrictions:
Ideally no more than 5 days.
- Must have experience with surgical drains.
- Must have experience with the following:

-on the unit monitoring, Telemetry- remote monitoring, Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, Sheath Removal, TR band, Feeding tube care and management, Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management, Renal failure, Accessing Ports, Arterial line management, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Starting IVs, Heparin Protocols, Manage Cardiac drips- no titration, Manage Vasoactive drips-no titration, PCA, Titrate Cardiac drips, Titrate Vasoactive drips, CVA, Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac, External CPAP/BIPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Nasal Cannula, Oxygen face masks, Portable Oxygen tank, Non-invasive airway management, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac.

Scheduling:
- 3x12 or 4x12 night shifts ).
- Schedule requests can be discussed with the manager.
- Will work every other weekend.
