Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse will provide skilled nursing care in an IMC/general onsite tele setting, working night shifts ) on a 3x12 or 4x12 schedule, with an average daily census of 38 patients. The role involves monitoring and managing patients with various cardiac, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, neurological, and respiratory conditions, as well as administering medications and responding to emergencies. The RN will float to similar units as needed and work every other weekend.

Responsibilities:

- Provide skilled nursing care to patients in an IMC/Telemetry unit.
- Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias.
- Perform telemetry monitoring, both on-unit and remote.
- Manage patients post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR band.
- Provide feeding tube care and management.
- Manage patients pre/post hemodialysis and with renal failure.
- Perform IV therapy and phlebotomy, including accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, and central/PICC/peripheral line care.
- Administer medications, including managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), and PCA.
- Manage patients with CVA and surgical drains.
- Provide respiratory care, including chest tube management, external CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management.
- Implement isolation precautions and provide wound care/wound vac.
- Float to like units as needed.
- Document patient care in Cerner.

Required Skills &

Certifications:

- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, or PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown.
- ACLS certification.
- BLS certification.
- Experience in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.

- Experience with telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote).

- Experience with post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac cath, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR band.

- Experience with feeding tube care and management.

- Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure.

- Experience with accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, and central/PICC/peripheral line care/management, and starting IVs.

- Experience with heparin protocols, managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), and PCA.

- Experience with CVA.

- Experience with surgical drains.

- Experience with chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks.

- Experience with isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac.
- Cerner experience.

Preferred Skills &

Certifications:

- Previous charge experience.
- Teaching hospital experience.
- Level I Trauma experience.

Special Considerations:

- Will work every other weekend.
- Will float to like units as needed.
- RTO ideally no more than 5 days.
- Client may call-off up to 36 hours per thirteen week assignment without pay.

- Required Cardiovascular Case Skills/

Experience:

Post Cardiac Angiogram, Post MI, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, Sheath Removal, TR band.
- Required Gastrointestinal Case Skills/

Experience:

Feeding tube care and management.
- Required Genitourinary/Renal Case Skills/

Experience:

Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management, Renal failure.
- Required IV therapy/Phlebotomy skills/experience:
Accessing Ports, Arterial line management, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Starting IVs.
- Required Medication Skills/

Experience:

Heparin Protocols, Manage Cardiac drips- no titration, Manage Vasoactive drips-no titration, PCA, Titrate Cardiac drips, Titrate Vasoactive drips.
- Required Neurological/Psychiatric Case Skills/

Experience:

CVA.

Experience with Surgical drains required.
- Required Respiratory Case Skills/

Experience:

Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac, External CPAP/BIPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Nasal Cannula, Oxygen face masks, Portable Oxygen tank, Non-invasive airway management.
