American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with IL license, Level I trauma, and multi-specialty surgical experience.
Responsibilities- Position is based in the Operating Room of an acute care, Magnet-designated, Level I trauma center
- Day shift, 5x8 hour shifts from 6:45 am to 3:15 pm
- Assignment length is 13 weeks
- 23 operating suites handling all service lines except cardiovascular
- EMR is Cerner;
Cerner experience preferred - Weekend shifts required one per month
- On-call required approximately once per week
- Floating within skill set may occur but is rare
- Caseload includes general, trauma, bariatric, neuro, ortho, plastics, transplant, urology, and emergency cases
- No local candidates; must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Will not be assigned to cardiovascular cases
- Scrubs are provided
- Parking permit required but free of charge
- Must follow standard infection control and radiation safety protocols at all times
- RTO requests must be reviewed and approved by the manager
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
- Active IL RN license in hand or in application process is required
- Minimum of 3 years OR nursing experience required
- Level I trauma experience is required
- BLS certification required; CNOR and CST preferred
- Experience in bariatrics, general surgery, neurology, orthopedics, plastics, transplant, urology, trauma, and emergency management required
- Proficiency with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables required
- Competence in professional skills including blood product administration, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling, universal protocol, and urinary catheterization
- First‑time travelers will not be considered
