Student, Nurse Extern

The Student Nurse Extern will rotate through various areas to gain understanding of the nurse role at Springfield Clinic as well as learn the duties to assist the nursing team. This position is classified as a 8 week IPT position.

Reports to the applicable department Manager or Director

• Shadow multiple nurse positions and train in a variety of tasks.
• Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
• Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
• Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

• Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program and has successfully completed first semester.

• CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire date.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Energetic and eager to experience new nursing roles.

• Works in office setting during the hours the Clinic is available to patients/families.
• Sitting vs. standing averages to 50-50%.
• Minimal lifting requirements. Occasional lifting required for orthopedics, geriatrics and internal medicine.
