Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a Level I trauma center requiring ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.
Responsibilities- Position is based in a 56-bed Emergency Department in an acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet hospital
- Treats a combined adult and pediatric population with an average daily census of 175
- Night shifts available: 3x12 or 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend work required every other weekend
- No on-call required
- No floating outside of the assigned unit
- Cerner charting system is used and prior experience is required
- Scrub color is any solid color
- Responsibilities include rapid assessment, stabilization, and management of diverse emergencies for adults and children
- Part of a multidisciplinary care team in a fast-paced, Level I trauma setting
- First-time travelers are accepted and supported
- Up to 5 days of time-off is permitted per contract
- Free onsite parking provided by permit
- Discuss block scheduling requests directly with management
- Active IL RN license or proof of application in progress
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required
- Certifications:
ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC required - Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction, and emergency response
- Experience with blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV starts, continuous IV sedation, emergency meds, and IV vasopressors
- Experience in pediatric emergencies including abdominal pain, asthma, head injury, infections, and poison ingestion
- Experience with neurological cases (CVA, spinal cord injury, TBI), orthopedic splint management, acute psychiatric cases, and respiratory emergencies including chest tube and intubation
- Experience with triage and isolation precautions
- Cerner EMR experience required
