Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Department position at a Level I trauma center requiring ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.

• Position is based in a 56-bed Emergency Department in an acute care, Level I trauma, Magnet hospital
• Treats a combined adult and pediatric population with an average daily census of 175
• Night shifts available: 3x12 or 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Weekend work required every other weekend
• No on-call required
• No floating outside of the assigned unit
• Cerner charting system is used and prior experience is required
• Scrub color is any solid color
• Responsibilities include rapid assessment, stabilization, and management of diverse emergencies for adults and children
• Part of a multidisciplinary care team in a fast-paced, Level I trauma setting
• First-time travelers are accepted and supported
• Up to 5 days of time-off is permitted per contract
• Free onsite parking provided by permit
• Discuss block scheduling requests directly with management

• Active IL RN license or proof of application in progress
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required
• Certifications:
  
  ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC required
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction, and emergency response
• Experience with blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV starts, continuous IV sedation, emergency meds, and IV vasopressors
• Experience in pediatric emergencies including abdominal pain, asthma, head injury, infections, and poison ingestion
• Experience with neurological cases (CVA, spinal cord injury, TBI), orthopedic splint management, acute psychiatric cases, and respiratory emergencies including chest tube and intubation
• Experience with triage and isolation precautions
• Cerner EMR experience required
