Position OverviewThe primary responsibility of the Program Manager is to work with members throughout their communities to drive the mission of Best Buddies forward through school‑ and community‑based Friendship Programs. Program Managers engage people in the mission, serve as a support person for members, and manage the volunteer base to provide a high‑quality experience. The role is fundamental to establishing an inviting, engaging, inclusive and volunteer‑driven environment and to supporting participants, chapter recruitment, training, and engagement activities.

- Support chapters through consistent communication via virtual networks, online platforms, and in‑person meetings.
- Provide mission‑focused guidance and support to chapter members and volunteers to ensure alignment with overall mission outcomes.
- Share information on web‑based resources and training opportunities.
- Track all reporting and chapter updates using online platforms.
- Communicate programmatic goals, responsibilities, and risk policies, ensuring volunteers operate within guidelines including chapter dues, buddy pair matching, and leadership development.
- Track and support volunteers in their academic and post‑secondary growth and in the Best Buddies Jobs program.
- Manage state citizen matches and cultivate corporate chapters.
- Host community trainings to promote awareness and engagement in the Best Buddies mission, including corporate partner, ambassador, and e‑Buddies trainings.
- Collaborate with local, state, and national teams to support awareness and promotion on social media and other marketing efforts.
- Represent Best Buddies programs through public speaking, community involvement, and other initiatives.
- Support stewardship efforts by providing regular information and updates.
- Bachelor's degree or 2 years of relevant experience in volunteer management;
Best Buddies program experience a plus. - Comfortable engaging with people with IDD, including youth and adults.
- Adaptable and able to quickly and effectively develop and balance multiple relationships to achieve results.
- Basic project and time‑management skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong initiative, drive for results, and self‑assessment skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Clear understanding of multiple communication platforms and proficiency with social media.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willing and able to travel frequently, use a personal cell phone, and work evenings and weekends as necessary.
