Essential Functions
- Serves as Facilities & Engineering Manager for Anna, Quincy, LaSalle, Manteno, and Chicago Veterans’ Homes managing through the operations of all facility management functions.
- Serves as full line supervisor.
- Trains facilities management staff and others as required to ensure compliance with regulatory and operational requirements.
- Administers and oversees, through subordinate staff, the development and conducting agency facilities surveys and site inspections.
- Serves as an expert authority in collaboration with the Director in the planning and development of all aspects of policy development of statewide facility management and research issues to substantial revisions to existing legislation to enhance statewide facility management.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned that are reasonably within the scope of the duties outlined above.
- Requires the knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of (4) four years of college.
- Requires prior experience equivalent to four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in business management or facility management.
- Extensive experience equivalent to four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in facilities Management, environmental engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience in healthcare facilities maintenance, experience addressing environmental hazards in healthcare environments including water quality management and risk reduction.
- Certification in one or more areas of environmental and facilities management.
- Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- Two (2) years professional experience with creating, developing, and implementing programs or policies.
- Two (2) years’ experience with building surveys and inspections.
- Two (2) years’ experience preparing and analyzing budgets.
- Requires the ability pass a background check.
- Requires the ability meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
- Requires the ability pass a drug screen and pre-employment physical.
- Requires the ability acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
- Requires possession of a Stationary Engineer License.
- Requires possession of or the ability to obtain a valid certificate as a Universal Technician under U.S.E.P.A. Section 608 Rules.
- Requires the ability to utilize agency supplied materials/equipment (e.g., pager, cell phone, etc.).
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
- This position is considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d)). Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- On-call and overtime are a condition of employment, and you may be required to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime, and may be required to work alternating weekends. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends. This also requires the ability to work in a 24 hour ‘on call’ capacity.
