Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
The Revenue Litigation Bureau represents the interests of the State in litigation involving the civil enforcement of taxes administered by the Department of Revenue. The Bureau also represents the Department in bankruptcy cases around the country, primarily in:
1) responding to objections to claims filed by the Department or in filing objections to confirmation of plans filed by debtors under chapter 11 or 13 of the Bankruptcy Code;
2) ensuring post‑petition compliance by debtors‑in‑possession by requiring the payment of all current taxes due under threat of liquidation;
3) defending complaints filed by debtors seeking a determination that the Department’s claim is dischargeable; and
4) defending the Department’s tax liens and procuring payment on secured claims. The position available requires significant bankruptcy litigation experience.
We are primarily interested in individuals with at least two years of bankruptcy litigation experience.
Supplemental InformationSalaries are commensurate with number of years of practice as a licensed attorney and range from $ 84,480 to $ 107,550.
