The DoIT Team at IDOC is leading a transformation to modernize how the State of Illinois provides services to individuals in custody at the State of Illinois facilities. The DoIT team at IDOC is seeking to hire a candidate with strong technical and people skills to serve as the Deputy Chief Information Officer. The Deputy Chief Information Officer is responsible for managing technical staff across operational areas of Information Security & Audit Compliance, Financial & Support Services, Customer Service & Training, Technical Management and Program Management.
The successful candidate will need to be highly analytical, professional, communicate effectively, and possess excellent organizational skills. - Subject to management approval, serves as the Deputy Chief Information Officer for the Department of Innovation and Technology supporting the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) establishing, interpreting, and implementing policies, procedures, and goals for the total management process of the Office which has statewide impact.
- Plans, directs, coordinates, and supervises professional staff responsible for operational areas of Information Security & Audit Compliance, Financial & Support Services, Customer Service & Training, Technical Management, and Program Management.
- Oversees, establishes, and implements processes, controls, and standards to ensure compliance with IDOC schedules and priorities.
- Represents DoIT/IDOC at meetings, conferences, etc.
- Serves as full line supervisor.
- Analyzes resources allocated by policy, projects, programs, and work request making recommendations related to allocation of staff resources, equipment, and other needs to accomplish Department goals.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with coursework in management information systems, data processing or telecommunications or directly related fields.
- Requires prior experience equivalent to four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in management information systems, data processing or telecommunications in a public or business organization.
- Requires three (3) years of professional experience supervising a team of Information Technology professionals in a large and highly complex public or private IT organization.
