Salary: Anticipated $4,656 to $6,000 monthly, commensurate with experience

Overview

The Illinois Secretary of State’s Office (ILSOS) is the largest of its kind in the nation, employing over 4,200 people across 25 departments. The Person nel Department handles hiring, onboarding, and employee training throughout the agency. The Human Resources Trainer (HR Trainer) supports these functions by leading new employee orientations, developing training programs, and ensuring compliance with agency policies.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead Springfield New Employee Orientations (NEOs), conducting 2–4 day‑long sessions per month for 5 to 25 new employees, and additional sessions for temporary summer workers.
  • Assist in developing, administering, and evaluating targeted training on topics such as Customer Service, Ethics, Sexual Harassment, Discipline, Performance Evaluation, Attendance Monitoring, and Family Medical Leave Act.
  • Travel to various Illinois sites, requiring a valid Illinois driver’s license and insurance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Specific Skills
  • Professional, competent, and engaging presentation skills for small (5–10) and large (25–50) groups.
  • Empathetic and accurate in responding to questions from new employees.
  • Highly organized, diligent, and timely in preparing and following up on training materials and paperwork.
Education and Work Experience

Requires completion of a four‑year college degree in public or business administration and three years of responsible professional experience in a public or private organization.
