Overview
Hours:
8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with every third weekend rotation.
Payment: $18.34 per hour; maximum $28.42 per hour.
Transports and delivers durable medical, mobility, and basic respiratory care equipment and supplies to customer homes. Assembles and verifies performance of equipment in customer homes. Provides detailed equipment use and care instructions. Works independently after hours on call for delivery or troubleshooting. Serves as an independent back‑up in other key warehouse areas.
EducationHigh‑school graduation or equivalent required.
Qualifications- High‑school graduation or equivalent.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license (five‑year MVR required). A valid Illinois Class C license (Commercial Driver’s License with hazardous materials endorsement) is a plus.
- Minimum one year of customer service experience.
- Attain required Medical Service Technician CBL’s through the online Med University within first 90 days.
- Strong mechanical and assembly aptitude preferred. Experience with combustible materials is strongly preferred.
- Broad understanding of home medical equipment and ability to independently perform in‑home setups.
- Basic personal computer skills for retrieving and entering limited data.
- Good oral communication, customer relations, listening, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly flexible, ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive problem‑solving skills.
- Flexibility to work weekends and on‑call shifts.
- Drive a company vehicle to transport durable medical, mobility, and basic respiratory care equipment and supplies to patients’ homes. Perform pre- and post‑trip inspections and report repair or maintenance issues to ensure vehicle compliance.
- Select appropriate equipment, load/unload from the company vehicle, and deliver within the customer’s home using assistance devices such as dollies, carts, and cargo straps.
- Assemble equipment and provide detailed instructions on proper use and care; recommend enhancements to improve effectiveness or safety.
- Complete all delivery and maintenance paperwork accurately and submit to supervisor at day’s end; obtain patient signatures for billing and handle monetary exchanges as required.
- Conform to on‑call requirements, schedule and prioritize routing of in‑home customer visits arising from on‑call situations.
- Receive, interpret, and verify completion of daily work orders by obtaining signatures or completing documentation; arrange follow‑up work or refer to other departments.
- Prior to loading, evaluate equipment for performance, safety, and functionality; perform adjustments, troubleshooting, testing, and minor repairs as needed.
- Recommend additional equipment or supplies based on customer needs or requests.
- Properly tag, field‑clean, and bag equipment on pick‑up; return to branch for cleaning, functional testing, and proper placement.
- Monitor and update documentation and tracking systems related to purchase, issuance, recall, repair, and maintenance of patient‑care equipment and accessories.
- Maintain inventory of patient‑care equipment and supplies in the home.
- Load and unload liquid oxygen, concentrators, and other basic respiratory equipment to/from vehicle and home as required.
- Communicate and coordinate with management and dispatch regarding delivery schedules and service status.
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws and regulations; complete manifests for hazardous materials and legal documentation per Department of Transportation and Federal Drug Administration.
- Attend vendor-sponsored training or informational sessions when new products are introduced.
- Lead departmental meetings and conduct in‑service sessions on new or existing products when appropriate.
- Identify, document, and report unused or inappropriate equipment in customer homes; report to supervisor or clinical staff.
- Retrieve and enter basic information into USS system relating to home equipment or patient accounts.
- Serve as back‑up for other unit or department needs, especially during special circumstances or staff absences.
