Cardiovascular Imaging Technician, Cath Lab – Memorial Health
OverviewResponsible technical work on patients in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Operate various equipment to assist physicians during procedures, ensuring proper operation of x‑ray equipment and radiation safety.
SalaryUSD $29.44/hr – $45.64/hr.
ScheduleFull Time, Day Shift.
BenefitsSign‑on Bonus: $20,000–$40,000.
EducationGraduate of an approved School of Radiology or equivalent training (if hired before September 1990).
Qualifications- Graduate of an approved School of Radiology or equivalent training.
- Minimum of two years experience as a Cardiac Special Procedures Tech.
- Illinois Department of Health Nuclear Safety license required.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certificate required.
- Completion of a basic EKG class within one year of hire.
- ACLS certification required.
- Completion of radiation safety classes within 90 days of employment required.
- Operates a variety of electrical equipment in a cardiovascular catheterization laboratory during procedures.
- Monitors the patient’s electrocardiogram, alerts the physician of any irregular heart activity or change in pressure, and charges the patient appropriately.
- Performs patient pre‑procedure teaching and obtains consent forms signed by the patient.
- Provides education to employees and community as needed.
- Prepares the patient for the procedure and acts as a circulator, connecting monitoring lines, checking pulses, and collecting and setting up equipment.
- Serves as a sterile assistant, assists the physician in maintaining a sterile field, and assists with catheter and equipment insertion and removal.
- Assists in the use of arterial closure devices and performs hemostasis techniques.
- Records, interprets, and calculates data collected during the procedure.
- Maintains equipment, corrects malfunctions, and reports issues for repair.
- Instructs technologists and others in technical procedures and equipment operation.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the proper operation of x‑ray equipment used in the Cath Lab and monitors quality assurance of the x‑ray equipment.
- Participates in the on‑call rotation.
- Collects appropriate past patient information for physician review.
- Adheres to behavioral standards and performs other related work as required.
