Position: Systems Trainer (5032)

Systems Trainer Overview

The Systems Trainer provides training and documentation for all IS supported systems, including athena

IDX (aIDX) and Touch Works (TW). The incumbent will utilize a high level of in-depth application knowledge to deliver training and support.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct classroom-based training on the use of SIU Health Care’s systems.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and experience with SIU-HC IS supported applications, including athena

    IDX (aIDX) and Touch Works.
  • Understand the integration of applications and their impact on business processes and operations.
  • Perform integration testing as necessary.
  • Provide on‑site guidance and assistance to end users.
  • Review and develop training methods and training material.
  • Maintain effective communication with end users to understand problems and troubleshoot issues.
  • Perform job functions adhering to service principles with a customer‑service focus to provide quality care and service.
  • Serve as a champion for all SIU Health Care IS teams and initiatives; maintain a positive and professional attitude.
  • Work directly with all SIU Health Care staff to provide mentoring, education, and training within the patient care setting.
  • Perform needs assessments and monitor compliance to ensure transfer of learning.
  • Perform alpha testing for new system enhancements and projects.
  • Function as online training system administrator.
  • Facilitate regular End User Group meetings.
  • Support and work closely with end‑user application specialists and Help Desk.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • At least one year of IT‑related professional experience or 60 semester hours of related coursework.
  • One year of technical training experience in a professional or academic environment (training, classroom, online, or documentation).
  • Skill and ability requirements:

    • Expertise with common office productivity software, electronic mail, and calendaring.
    • Ability to act independently, manage multiple projects, and work well in a team.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills in training and assisting end users.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to retain complex information.
    • Good organizational skills and detail orientation.
    • Good judgment and sensitivity to the needs of under representative populations.
    Employment Conditions

    Out‑of‑state residents hired into this position must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of their start date.
