Position Overview

This position is accountable for assisting in the development and monitoring of the District 6 Annual and Multi Year Highway Improvement Programs, with a primary emphasis on the Annual Program.

Essential Functions

* Works with the District 6 staff, Office of Planning and Programming, and the Bureau of Operations to develop and deliver the projects in the Statewide Annual Line Items.

* Assists in preparation of program revisions, program carryovers, and letting coordination.

* Prepares reports and spreadsheets for the Annual Program monitoring and accomplishments.

* Analyzes and develops recommendations to upper management for resolving funding and project implementation issues for the Statewide Annual Maintenance Programs.

* Reviews Programming guidelines and coordinates with the district and the Bureaus of Planning and Programming staff on proposals.

* Assists with the development of the Multi-year Program and scoping activities.

* Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

* Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS five years of engineering experience; OR Seven years of engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications

* Basic knowledge of roadway and bridge design components.

* Knowledge of the Illinois Department of Transportation's (IDOT) overall program development and specific project planning and design processes.

* Ability to use database and spreadsheet computer applications, including data entry, data organization, and report development.

* Ability to manage workflow to coordinate multiple concurrent projects and priorities.

* Strong oral and written communications skills.

* Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with both district and IDOT central office staff.

Conditions of Employment

* Successful completion of a background screening.

* Valid driver's license.

* Overtime.

* Occasional district wide travel.
