Overview
Description Our client is seeking an experienced Epic training leader and instructional design expert to modernize and elevate their Epic and IT training program. This role will supervise a team of 9 Training Specialists who deliver Epic and Workday based training across clinical, ambulatory and operational areas. The individual will lead a major transformation effort, redesigning how training is delivered, improving curriculum quality, incorporating clinical workflows and preparing for multiple Epic module implementations.
This is a highly visible role within the Health Informatics Division and will partner closely with the Clinical Education Department and operational and IT leadership.
- Lead and supervise a team of Epic/IT Trainers (9 Training Specialists); provide ongoing coaching and performance management.
- Evaluate team skill sets and optimize resource alignment; maintain strong communication channels, lead team meetings and establish performance expectations.
- Modernize the training program: redesign initial and ongoing training models for providers, nurses, ambulatory staff members and Community Connect partners; introduce interactive, asynchronous, and workflow-based learning, using tools such as Articulate and Camtasia.
- Ensure training materials and course content remain accurate, updated, and aligned with organizational standards and foundation builds.
- Manage Epic curriculum development, delivery, test outs, and upgrade training; support Workday-based course registration and learning workflows for internal and external learners; participate in training evaluations and observe sessions to assess quality and identify improvements.
- Support launches of multiple Epic modules (Beaker, Cupid, Research, Gallery, Willow Ambulatory, Lumens, etc.); coordinate training readiness for upgrades, go-lives, and new Community Connect affiliates.
- Lead change management efforts to shift the training culture and adopt new best practices; partner with Clinical Education, operations, informatics, and project teams to incorporate workflows and clinical best practices into training curriculums; participate in Epic and Workday work groups and liaise with stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of healthcare training environments.
- Epic certifications (multiple preferred) and TED experience.
- High level MST knowledge (no hands-on build experience is expected).
- Experience in training development and instructional design.
- Experience in creating e-learnings, videos, workflows and assessments.
- Experience in Mitosis, Camtasia and ideally Articulate 360.
- Experience in supporting organizations aligned closely with Epic Foundation.
- Ability to evaluate, design and implement training enhancements for new modules and future initiatives.
- Experience in the following Epic modules:
Beaker, Cupid, Lumens, Willow Ambulatory, Research, Behavioral Health and/or Gallery. - Experience in Workday learning modules.
- Primarily remote (with flexibility to travel onsite as needed).
- Manage a fully remote training team.
Contract to Hire position based out of Springfield, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $75.00 – $85.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
