The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a detail-oriented person to serve as a Fixed Assets/Property Control Accountant in the Fixed Assets/Property Control Unit. The selected person will perform professional accounting duties in the maintenance of property control records and financial reporting procedures. This position will also establish and maintain inventory accounts, reconcile reports, and maintain appropriate property control and fixed assets systems.

- Maintains property control records in the Statewide Accounting System for the Illinois Department of Corrections.
- Reconciles the Statewide Accounting System on a regular basis.
- Receives daily transactional documents for property control, verifying accuracy and timely processing.
- Assists with the fixed asset physical inventory process.

- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting or four (4) years of technical accounting experience.
- Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.
- Prefers at least five (5) years of professional accounting and/or auditing experience.
- Prefers a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or Finance.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and/or similar type of computer programs.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of professional experience using a Statewide Accounting System.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of professional experience working with inventory reports.
