Position SummaryProcesses member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware, using appropriate procedures for different payment types and items sold. Maintains merchandise presentation in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating merchandise and supplies received from distribution centers and removing damaged or out-of-date goods, setting up cleaning and organizing product displays, signing and pricing merchandise, and securing fragile and high‑shrink merchandise. Maintains the Pharmacy area in accordance with company policies by handling claims and returns, pricing merchandise, creating signs, verifying merchandise on hand, arranging and organizing supplies, identifying shrink and damages, ensuring a safe work environment, completing required documentation, logs and other paperwork.
Monitors and resolves problems in the prescription fulfillment process by processing third‑party insurance claims, rescanning illegible images, alerting patients to out‑of‑stock inventory, partial fills, and the need for physician authorizations on refills, and identifying situations requiring pharmacist action. Promotes and maintains the pharmacy’s professional reputation and provides patients with pharmacy products and services in accordance with local, state, federal laws and corporate policies, by assisting the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process, processing insurance claims, assisting patients with prescription orders and purchases, and completing and securing required documentation.
Provides patient‑member service in the Pharmacy area by acknowledging members, identifying member needs, initiating the prescription fulfillment process at the pharmacy drop‑off window, creating prescription orders, promoting products, resolving member issues and concerns, assisting with purchase decisions, locating over‑the‑counter merchandise, and maintaining a safe shopping environment. Enters prescription data into pharmacy software by transcribing prescription information into system codes, transcribing appropriate prescription data (written date, drug name, strength, directions, sig, refills, prescribing physician name and DEA number), creating or modifying patient‑member records.
Fills prescriptions by retrieving orders, counting, pouring, measuring or weighing medication tablets, liquids, and creams; mixing or reconstituting medications; selecting filling and labeling containers; and operating scanning equipment or dispensing systems to ensure prescription accuracy. Provides member assistance during prescription pickup by verifying and entering patient information, marking appropriate prescriptions for pickup, retrieving the prescription bag, scanning security tags, gathering electronic signatures for HIPAA compliance, handling third‑party payors, and logging the sale of restricted items.
