Speech Therapist – Schmieding Developmental Center

UAMS – University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences

Overview

Dedicated Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to evaluate and treat children from birth through adolescence in a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive speech/language and developmental evaluations using standardized tools.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary providers to determine diagnoses and treatment recommendations.
  • Document clinical findings and communicate results effectively to families and team members.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and provide ongoing consultation to other disciplines.
  • Supervise student clinicians as needed.
  • Maintain clinical competence through continuing education and participation in task forces.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Communicative Disorders.
  • Active Arkansas license in Speech‑Language Pathology.
  • Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) with ASHA or eligibility for it.
  • Preferred Ph.D. in Communicative Disorders.
  • Minimum two (2) years of pediatric experience in speech‑language evaluations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of pediatric speech and language development.
  • Proficiency in diagnostic tools for assessing developmental disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage children, families, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing speech‑language pathology.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret clinical data to support accurate diagnoses.
