SummaryA Senior MRI Technologist is an expert technologist who performs quality MRI exams safely and timely while providing excellent patient care. May serve as a preceptor to other staff members and act as lead when the Lead MRI Technologist is out.
Required Education- Associate's degree or equivalent from a two‑year college program, technical school, or nursing diploma
- Bachelor's degree from a four‑year college or university
- Direct – 6 years of experience
- Direct – Pediatric
One of the following license or registry is required.
Recommended Certifications- ARRT – MRI Specialist (American Registry of Radiology Technologist)
- ARMRIT – American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists
- Expert MRI technologist and may serve as a preceptor in performing diagnostic scans as directed by radiologists.
- Expert in utilizing correct scan protocols while optimizing image quality, decreasing scan length and repeat procedures; demonstrates knowledge of patient positioning and coil selection.
- May serve as a preceptor to properly screen patients, families, and staff with attention to pregnancy and MRI contraindications.
- May serve as a preceptor in adhering to all safety recommendations regarding MRI.
- Ensures that work area is properly maintained.
- May serve as a preceptor in troubleshooting and reporting malfunctioning equipment.
- Assists with service recovery, ensuring proactive communication with patients and families.
- Participates in performance improvement activities; complies with all TJC, state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
