Position Summary

The Health and Safety Coordinator position works in tandem with all plant leadership to ensure state, federal, and corporate regulations and policies related to safety are followed at the Springdale, AR facility. The H&S Coordinator reports directly to the Operations Manager with a dotted line relationship with the Director of Environmental Health and Safety. The H&S Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all Health and Safety activities as described below.

This individual will be responsible for implementing, improving and overseeing the training program for all new hires as well as current staff.

Shift: 6am-3pm

Primary Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with HR the onboarding and training of new employees (direct and temporary staffing)
  • Identifying and controlling hazardous workplace conditions
  • Coordinating the removal of physical, biological, and chemical hazards
  • Training employees on company safety policies and procedures, and governmental agency regulations pertaining to employee safety
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensuring necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable Lassonde Health and Safety standards
  • Participation in OSHA inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.
  • Implementing best practices and procedures for plant safety
  • Developing and reporting on KPIs
  • Facilitating applicable safety training such as but not limited to LOTO, OSHA, Forklift, MEWP, Ammonia, Ergonomics, etc.
  • Collaborating with department leaders (managers and supervisors) to ensure safety requirements are being adhered to at all times
  • Participates in the plant SQF program
  • Facilitation of emergency action planning including annual evacuation drills
  • Maintaining current OSHA certifications as applicable
  • Maintain Ammonia Awareness certification and training (AR and MI)
  • Handling risk assessments to gather information on safety issues
  • Verifying that employees consistently follow safety protocols
  • Analyzing health and safety data for root cause and corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Reviewing and recommending changes to regular activities
  • Any other task deemed necessary to effectively administer the health and safety program
  • Lead and facilitate the delivery of technical training programs
  • Develop training programs and materials including outlines, text, handouts, hands on exercises, and training evaluations
  • Monitor results of training and collect feedback on training instructors to determine effectiveness and identify areas for improvement
  • Continuously update Alchemy (LMS) to ensure information is up-to-date and accurate
Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) from a two-year college in Health and Safety preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in health and safety programs in a manufacturing environment
  • Work in a safe manner following all PPE requirements.
  • Must be able to train and communicate effectively
  • Must have MS Excel, Word, and Outlook proficiency
