Chaplain - CPE

Overview

The Chaplain will work a weekday Monday-Friday schedule with rotating on call coverage for after hour needs.

• Assess the spiritual needs of hospice patients and families as part of the interdisciplinary team.
• Care for patients of diverse cultures and religious backgrounds, delivering services consistent with patient/family beliefs and desires.
• Coordinate spiritual services through hospice staff, local religious organizations, or community clergy.
• Provide funeral services when requested and assist families with planning.
• Provide bereavement support.
• Assist with public speaking and training concerning spiritual issues, end-of-life concerns, hospice care, etc., for other health care providers.

• Must have 1 unit of CPE with expectation of completing 4 units within 2 years.
• Must have 5 years related experience and/or training; prior healthcare chaplaincy experience required.
• Exceptional listening skills.
• Knowledge of death, dying and bereavement; experience with end-of-life issues and hospice services preferred.
• Able to work with individuals as well as a commitment to organizational goals; knowledge of proper English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation; time management.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English (face to face and by phone).
• Requires computer skills. Prior experience using electronic health systems preferred.
• Valid driver’s license, personal auto, and current auto liability insurance.
• Satisfactory results from current TB test.

• Master's Degree from an accredited institution preferred. At least 4 units of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) required to complete if not already acquired.
