Job Summary:
Physician Schedulers are responsible for maintaining multiple physician schedules by greeting, instructing, directing, scheduling internal appointments, and helping coordinate external appointments for patients and their representatives.
- Thoroughly carries out Physicians Orders as primary oversight for providers schedule (reschedule, cancellations, blocking, labs, chemo, etc.)
- Assist with new patient paperwork, patient updates and insurance information.
- Instruct / remind patients of scheduled appointments.
- Collect patient payments and reconcile daily cash collections.
- Answer telephone, screen calls, take messages, and provide information in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain neat work and waiting areas.
- Timely correspond to emails, phone calls, and IM messages and triage tickets.
- Routinely address patients/family members questions and concerns regarding medical procedures and policies by providing information to patients regarding preparation for diagnostics and other upcoming appointments.
- Attend required staff meetings.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Multi‑tasker, detail‑oriented, possess strong customer‑service skills with ability to keep up in a fast‑paced environment, and extremely flexible.
- Strong computer, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, and telephone skills.
- Ability to handle heavy phone volume.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced Oncology clinic.
- Required to be onsite to fulfill job duties.
- This job requires the use of machines and equipment located onsite.
- Must be able to interact and provide services to patients and employees.
- High School Diploma.
- 1 year of Oncology experience preferred.
- 1–2 years of medical terminology and healthcare experience preferred.
- Sitting for prolonged periods at a desk.
- Computer use that requires visual acuity, typing, use of mouse/keyboard, and staring at a screen for extended periods.
- Occasionally lifting objects up to 25 pounds such as files, office supplies, assisting patients when needed, etc.
- Walking and standing for continuous periods around the office or clinic as needed.
- Fine motor skills for tasks like typing, writing, handling small objects or equipment and materials.
