summary: is developing the knowledge to perform quality ct exams in a safe and timely manner while providing excellent patient care.
required education: associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school or nursing diploma
recommended education: bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
required work experience: direct - no experience required
recommended work experience: direct - pediatric
required certifications: 1 of the following certifications must be obtained in one year - arrt (r)(n)(ct) - american registry of radiology technologist (arrt), radiologic technologist license - arkansas department of health
recommended certifications: arrt - computed tomography (ct) - american registry of radiology technologist (arrt), certified nuclear medicine technologist (cnmt) - nuclear medicine technology certification board
responsibilities- verifies exams as ordered by physician.
- developing the knowledge to perform correct scan protocols in an effort to decrease radiation exposure to patients.
- developing knowledge of and adherence to all radiation safety recommendations, including patient shielding. Alara
- developing knowledge to properly administer iv and oral contrast.
- developing ability to explain exams/procedures to patients and families.
- ensures that work area is properly maintained.
- developing knowledge of current or new and evolving technologies in ct.
- maintains equipment and requests service as needed.
- complies with all tjc, state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
- performs other duties as assigned.
- associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school or nursing diploma
- bachelor's degree from four-year college or university (recommended)
- no direct experience required (recommended pediatric experience)
- 1 certification in ct technology within one year (arrt (r)(n)(ct) or arkansas department of health license)
- certification in ct technology enhances candidacy (arrt ct, cnmt)
