The Cath Lab Technician is responsible for preparing the cath lab, assisting physicians during procedures, monitoring patients, and ensuring radiation safety and infection control.
Essential Functions- Prepare and maintain cath lab equipment and supplies.
- Assist physicians with specialized equipment (e.g., fluoroscopy, IVUS, hemodynamic monitoring).
- Monitor and document patient vital signs; report abnormalities promptly.
- Position, drape, and educate patients prior to procedures.
- Ensure accurate documentation of procedures and equipment usage.
- Follow radiation safety protocols and infection control guidelines.
- Assist with contrast media and medication administration.
- Participate in quality improvement and accreditation activities.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of cath lab equipment.
- Provide post‑procedural care instructions and coordinate follow‑up care.
- Maintain reliable attendance and comply with policies.
- 1–2 years in a Cardiac Cath Lab or cardiovascular diagnostic setting.
- Required:
CVT – Cardiovascular Technician or CRT – Certified Radiologic Technologist or RN (state/compact licensure). - BS/trm within 30 days: BCLS; preferred: ACLS; ARRT preferred.
- Arkansas state requirement:
Active Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or equivalent.
- Proficiency in cardiovascular diagnostics and interventional procedures.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to remain focused and respond swiftly in a fast‑paced environment.
