Responsibilities
  • Assist the Meat & Seafood Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit.
  • Oversee ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Meat & Seafood team.
  • Coordinate production, merchandising, and sales through ongoing planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork.
  • Lead a team that brainstorms to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest customer experience.
  • Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Meat & Seafood team.
  • Maintain awareness of weekly ad items and assist with inventory and ordering; enforce and follow department practices for receiving, stocking, and unloading product to ensure freshness and quality; adhere to our “Clean as You Go” and “Fresh at 4” programs.
  • Unload and sort deliveries, operate, and maintain meat & seafood equipment.
  • Ensure execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines/regulations, and confirm that team members follow these procedures.
  • Thrive in a fast‑paced environment, executing day‑to‑day operations and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 18 years of age; basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience with proven leadership; 2–3 years of grocery retail experience in a Meat department is highly preferred.
  • Dependable and reliable; willing to perform related duties as assigned.
  • Outgoing, friendly demeanor and positive attitude; ability to interact with customers.
  • Flexibility to work a changing schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to take direction and work in a team environment.
  • Capacity to perform general housekeeping and sanitation of the department.
  • Adherence to all safety, health, weights, and measures regulations and company recipes.
  • Physical capability to stand up to 4 hours continuously and walk up to 2 miles per shift; heavy lifting (25–90 lbs.) required, with specified distances and durations.
  • Vision required for using sharp knives, band saw, grinder, sausage maker, box cutter, wrapping machine, and tenderizer.
