What role you will play in our teamWe are seeking dynamic, creative, and resourceful candidates for Exxon Mobil’s Spring, TX location to work on a variety of challenging petrophysical problems as part of a core team of formation evaluation specialists. The role will include, but is not limited to performing integrated petrophysical analyses, utilizing multiple data types, using a variety of software for petrophysical data processing and evaluation.
The ideal candidate can work independently on all types of petrophysical log and core data and be able to interpret complex analyses from raw logs to integrated solutions.
- Contribute to all stages of petrophysical project work, including data preparation, pre‑processing, data filtering/augmentation, environmental corrections, and calibration.
- Provide real‑time operational support during drilling and completion activities, including designing and executing data collection programs, ensuring accurate and timely petrophysical data interpretation to guide operational decisions as and when required.
- Conduct model‑based petrophysical analyses to evaluate reservoir properties and fluid distributions across the lifecycle, while supporting Exxon Mobil's efforts to formulate new and innovative approaches to improve the efficiency of multi‑well workflows.
- Support rock physics modeling, fluid substitution, well‑to‑seismic ties, and seismic modeling if needed.
- Work with computational scientists, engineers, and geoscientists to test, deliver, and support various petrophysical software tools, models, algorithms, and software both globally.
Skills and Qualifications
Candidates should have a BS, MA/MS and/or PhD degree from a recognized university in Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering or Physics (or related fields).
Minimum 5 years of industrial experience in petrophysical/formation evaluation analyses in support of upstream oil and gas operations.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and take ownership.
- Relevant hands‑on experience in any of the following areas across various stages of the field lifecycle, including conventional and unconventional reservoirs, operational support, and seismic rock physics, is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets in both clastics and carbonates.
- Experience with one or more integrated petrophysical analysis software suites including Geolog.
- Coding experience and knowledge of statistical methods, machine learning and numerical modeling can be an added advantage.
