This position was created to enhance redundancy and reduce risk from single-point-of-failure gaps within the automation engineering team. You'll be working alongside talented professionals in a close-knit environment, with access to cutting-edge equipment and a commitment to cross-training and team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities- Design, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs, ensuring efficient and accurate system functionality.
- Support Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming tasks, especially using Allen-Bradley RSLogix 500/5000.
- Assist with the creation and revision of electrical schematics using AutoCAD.
- Build and modify control panels and install automation components on the production floor.
- Troubleshoot PLCs and electrical control systems at the component level using meters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools.
- Interface with AC/DC drives, sensors, encoders, actuators, and instrumentation.
- Write procedures for system commissioning, perform functional testing, and support installations.
- Deliver ongoing technical support to internal teams throughout the lifecycle of control system deployments.
- Hands‑on ability in both programming and troubleshooting PLC systems (expect a 50/50 split).
- Experience working in a production or manufacturing setting with real‑world automation challenges.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD for creating, modifying, and documenting electrical schematics.
- Comfortable working fully onsite, Monday through Friday, within a typical 8:00 AM–4:30 PM schedule (some flexibility available).
- Exposure to industrial automation components including drives, relays, sensors, and signal devices.
- 2+ years of PLC experience with a relevant technical degree or 3–5 years of hands‑on experience without a degree.
- Strong foundation in troubleshooting and support of automation systems, not just programming.
- Allen‑Bradley experience is preferred, though transferable experience with Siemens or other platforms is acceptable.
- Ability to communicate technical issues clearly and work collaboratively across disciplines.
