Refuse Truck Driver Spokane Valley, WA

Overview

Sunshine Disposal & Recycling is hiring a full‑time Refuse Truck Driver for our Kootenai County,  unit. The position starts Saturday‑Wednesday at 8:00 am in the Spokane Valley truck yard and may require overtime. The hourly wage is $25.91 with a $0.50 bump after six months and annual COLA increases.

• Arrive on time, receive paperwork and tablet for route work.
• Perform pre‑trip inspection of the truck, ensuring all equipment and systems are safe; complete the DVIR form and report any maintenance needs to the supervisor.
• Drive truck on fixed routes in the same geographic area daily and weekly using provided route information and maps.
• Open and close container enclosures as needed on commercial service routes; position containers and clear overhanging debris.
• Communicate effectively with the route supervisor and/or office to avoid dispatch issues and report any encountered problem immediately.
• Dump/empty the truck at the end of the day at the appropriate location and perform basic clean out of the truck body and cab.
• Perform vehicle post‑trip inspection after the route is completed, complete the post‑trip DVIR, and inform the site supervisor of any maintenance areas.
• Submit route work information via data and paper notes, including extra charges and customer notes each day.
• Attend all scheduled meetings, including safety, training, and other company meetings at the Sunshine Disposal & Recycling facility.
• Perform special projects for the Operation Manager and other members of the management team.
• Perform any other duties assigned.

• Class A or B CDL.
• Air Brake Certificate.
• Valid DOT medical card.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Two (2) years of commercial driving experience preferred.
• Must meet insurability requirements and comply with all US DOT drug screening rules.

• Hourly wage: $25.91.
