In addition to the base salary above, bilingual responsibilities may qualify for a 5% increase in pay after passing an assessment of language fluency.

, you will help advance the mission to “Keep Washington Safe and Working.” The role focuses on protecting lives by delivering expert-led training and outreach in English and Spanish. You will bridge language gaps, support workplace safety, and make technical content accessible and engaging for Washington’s diverse workforce, including the high-risk Agriculture industry. You will collaborate across departments, industries, and communities to ensure that every worker, no matter their language, has access to life-saving safety information.

Travel and Work EnvironmentDriving is a required part of this job to perform duties as an L&I investigator. Frequent daily travel with occasional overnight travel throughout the State is expected. A valid unrestricted driver’s license is required, with no convictions for driving under the influence or other offenses that endangered or harmed others within the past 7 years. If a state-issued vehicle or motor pool is unavailable, you may use a privately owned vehicle (POV) with mileage reimbursement.
Physical RequirementsYou must be physically capable of walking through diverse workplaces (e.g., large manufacturing plants with metal stairways, catwalks, ladders) and be exposed to various weather conditions for long durations.
Work ArrangementTelework is permitted on occasion dependent upon business needs and supervisor approval. The assigned duty station can be any Region 5 L&I Office (E. Wenatchee, Union Gap, or Kennewick, WA) and may occasionally travel statewide.
Training and Content DeliveryAs a subject matter expert, you’ll independently develop and deliver bilingual (English/Spanish) training and educational materials for diverse audiences across the state. Your work will involve:
- WISHA 10 for Agriculture Program Development & Training
- Create and present 10-hour training modules for Agriculture and Construction.
- Lead training sessions using hands-on demonstrations, small-group discussions, and scenario-based exercises.
- Audit training courses to ensure consistency and excellence.
- Maintain training databases.
- Bilingual Education & Outreach
- Design and deliver occupational safety and health trainings for internal staff and external stakeholders.
- Translate and develop training materials, videos, and online modules in English and Spanish.
- Represent DOSH at community events, safety fairs, radio programs, and multicultural outreach efforts.
- Serve as a Spanish-language liaison across agency programs and public-facing events.
- Content Creation & Technical Support
- Research and develop new materials based on current regulations (OSHA, WACs, RCWs, ANSI, NIOSH, etc.).
- Utilize multimedia tools (PowerPoint, Storyline, video editing) to enhance training delivery.
- Support website updates with bilingual technical content.

- Fluency in Spanish and English, with the ability to pass advanced language proficiency assessments (verbal and written).
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
