Heavy Equipment Field Technician (Finance)
Modern Machinery has immediate opportunities for full‑time, journey‑level, highly motivated, self‑directed Heavy Equipment Field Service Technicians. Candidates must be well established in the heavy equipment repair and maintenance industry with at least three to five years of experience operating a field service truck. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
Hourly pay range: $30.00 to $51.00. This is a non‑exempt position and is eligible for overtime pay.

Job Requirements / Skills- Demonstrated troubleshooting and analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, walk, climb ladders and stairs, reach, pull, lean, and twist.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain an insurable driving record.
- Accurate completion of DOT E‑Logs and maintenance of compliance with DOT hours of service.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Reliability, honesty, and a strong work ethic.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication with customers and co‑workers.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ownership of required tools.
- Willingness to work overtime with minimal notice.
- Ability to travel away from home.
- Strong computer skills.
- Awareness of assigned territory requirements.
- High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in diesel technology or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three to five years of verifiable experience repairing heavy equipment in a field service truck.
- Prior dealership experience is beneficial.
- Experience with Komatsu as the primary equipment line is preferred; other manufacturers may apply.
- Safety‑sensitive position subject to pre‑employment testing including cannabis.

- Follow all company policies and regulations for safe work procedures and contribute to company safety goals.
- Independently troubleshoot and repair all systems (electrical, hydraulic, A/C, powertrain, etc.) on Komatsu and other Modern Machinery affiliated product lines.
- Operate equipment as needed to assist in locating and diagnosing the failure.
- Utilize hand and power tools and electronic diagnostic equipment.
- Read and interpret complex hydraulic and electrical schematics.
- Perform diagnostic testing and tuning of equipment.
- Determine extent of the repair and corrective action required.
- Follow all safety rules and policies while performing all work assignments.
- Adhere to any additional customer requirements.
- Assess parts to determine the cause of failure and reusability.
- Communicate with parts department personnel to order necessary parts.
- Perform assignments in a variety of environments, including the field, customer sites, and shop.
- Handle customer inquiries promptly and professionally, providing status updates and establishing strong relationships.
- Maintain a positive attitude under pressure and within deadlines.
- Ensure field service truck is appropriately maintained and kept.
- Complete and submit assigned work order reports, time entry and other paperwork daily.
- Assist other technicians on large repairs or projects.
- Attend and participate in appropriate training sessions.
