Purpose
To perform electrical construction, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, adjustment, repair or replacement of any electrical equipment for the proper operation of the Airport. This includes parking lots, emergency generators, HVAC and lighting control systems. Also provides support to Airport staff on communication systems, FIDs and other related systems
Major Responsibilities
- Performs electrical construction, installation, erection and maintenance work. This includes installation and maintenance of all electrical lighting, heating power equipment, unit heaters, heat pumps and motor generators.
- Welds, burns, brazes, bends, drills and shapes angle iron and brackets for the installation and erection of electrical wiring and equipment.
- Performs chasing, channeling and wiring necessary to complete any electrical work including fixtures.
- Performs high voltage splicing and work on panels and distribution centers.
- Determines material and work hours required to complete any assigned task.
- Handles calls received regarding electrical equipment failures, problems, and other general information.
- Assists the Airports Terminal Maintenance Supervisor through his technical abilities, in advance planning of future operations and their effect on Airport electrical installations.
- Recommends purchase of major items of electrical equipment, alternations or replacements of present facilities and changes in electrical maintenance procedures.
- Investigates damage to or failure of electrical facilities for the Airports to include buildings and airfield.
- Recommends electrical energy conservation programs to the immediate supervisor.
- Ensures that all electrical installations, modifications and maintenance are in accordance with the approved procedures and codes.
- Meets and confers with consultants, contractors, and staff regarding improvements and projects.
- Maintains documentation on projects with schematics, shop drawings, material lists and other pertinent data to record and file what was done.
- Provides aid and guidance to the public.
- Notifies the Airports Terminal Maintenance Supervisor of any job related problems including accidents and/or injuries.
- Observes safety rules and performs other duties as assigned.
- Performs snow and ice control duties as required.
- Performs janitorial duties, pick and shovel work.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate with two (2) years vocational training or four (4) year apprentice training.
- Five (5) years experience - Must be certified by the State of Washington as a journey-level Electrician as attested by the Department of Labor & Industries or Five (5) years experience - General Electrical Administration License for the State of Washington.
- Must possess a valid industrial first aid and CPR certification card. (90 day grace period to obtain)
- Must possess a valid state drivers license, free of serious or frequent traffic violations.
- Have working knowledge of blueprint reading, control wiring, PLC logic, programmable controls, HVAC controls, conveyor controls, switchboard layout, utility company requirements.
- Be familiar with computers.
- Must have poise and personal bearing to deal with all people. Must be able to establish a work relationship with peers, supervisor, and public.
- Must be able to schedule and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to operate job related equipment.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must be able to maintain mobility within all areas of responsibilities.
- Position requires being able to use hands to finger, handle and feel. Must be able to reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to climb and balance as well as being able to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Must be able to talk, hear and smell.
- Must be able to bend, twist, and lift up to fifty pounds on a regular basis with the ability to lift seventy-five pounds on occasion.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an Airport security badge as a condition of employment.
- This is a safety sensitive position.

CEO/Executive Director, Directors, Airport employees, Tenants, and the Public.
WORKING CONDITIONS, TRAVEL, ENVIRONMENT AND POTENTIAL HAZARDS
Travel in local area. Attend education up-date classes. Work performed primarily in and around the Airport Terminal Facilities Complex. Some work is performed in high, precarious places and sometimes in tight enclosed spaces. Some exposure to fumes and airborne particles. Also exposure to cold, heat and outside weather conditions. Exposure to electrical shock risk. Moderately noisy to loud work environment. Hearing protection provided and required for some tasks.
