Performs mechanical and minor electrical work in support of the maintenance function.

Responsibilities
  • Operates and maintains heating, utility supply and disposal systems, mechanical systems, low pressure water and fire tubed boilers, gas and oil fired forced air furnace, and related systems such as heat exchangers, pumps, motors, valves, domestic hot and cold water systems, condensate systems, traps, and controls.
  • Operates and maintains HVAC systems, including refrigeration compressors and evaporative condensers.
  • Monitors assigned areas, replaces burned-out lamps, and repairs damaged diffusers or fixtures.
  • Assembles and uses scaffolding; operates lift devices.
  • Requests supplies necessary for repairs and replacements to ensure continued service of terminal and facilities.
  • Repairs and maintains overhead doors, automatic doors, air compressors, and related systems.
  • Performs painting, vinyl repairs, and wall repairs.
  • Provides aid and guidance to the public.
  • Notifies the Terminal Maintenance Superintendent of job-related problems, accidents, or injuries.
  • Adheres to safety rules and performs other assigned duties, including snow and ice control, janitorial work, and manual labor as needed.
Experience/Education
  • At least four years of experience in related fields or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must obtain a Low Pressure Boiler license and a CFC Type I, II EPA-approved refrigeration certificate within 90 days of hire; failure to do so may lead to termination.
  • Valid state motor vehicle license with no serious or frequent traffic violations.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with peers, supervisors, and the public, demonstrating poise and professionalism.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Mobility within all work areas.
  • Use of hands for handling and feeling; reaching with hands and arms.
  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling.
  • Talking, hearing, smelling.
  • Lifting up to fifty pounds regularly and seventy-five pounds occasionally.
Security/Safety
  • Must obtain and maintain an Airport security badge.
  • This position is safety-sensitive.
Working Contacts
  • Interactions with CEO/Executive Director, Directors, Airport employees, tenants, and the public.
Working Conditions
  • Local travel, ongoing education, and work primarily in and around Airport Terminal Facilities.
  • Work around moving parts, high places, fumes, airborne particles, and varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to electrical shocks, vibration, noise; hearing protection and safety glasses provided.
Equipment Operation
  • Diagnostic/testing equipment, snow removal gear, vehicles, welding tools, and hand power tools.
  • Training provided for specialized equipment operation.
