Registered Nurse - Community Living Center Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval – award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

Qualifications- English language proficiency – basic written and spoken English.
- Graduated from a professional nursing school accredited by ACEN or CCNE, or completing an approved bridge program toward a Bachelor’s degree.
- Current, full‑active, unrestricted state or territory license in the United States.
- Eligible for the EDRP and has a valid application within four months of appointment.
- Physical requirements include moderate lifting, carrying, and repetitive bending; vision and hearing standards must be met.
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to Veterans in a long‑term care, rehabilitation, or hospice setting.
- Perform initial and ongoing assessments – physical, emotional, and psychosocial.
- Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely.
- Monitor and document vital signs, symptoms, and patient progress in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition, initiating appropriate interventions and notifying providers.
- Support activities of daily living (ADLs) and promote independence and dignity for residents.
- Provide end‑of‑life care and emotional support to Veterans and families in hospice situations.
- Educate Veterans and families on health conditions, medications, and care plans.
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure a safe environment for residents and staff.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to VA performance measures.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other team members to optimize Veteran outcomes.
- Advocate for Veterans, ensuring rights and preferences are respected.

- Night shift – 7:00 pm to 7:30 am; every Sunday/Monday/Tuesday and every other Wednesday.
