Machine Operator I – Collins Aerospace

Wheels & Brakes (Carbon) – 11135 W Westbow Lane, Spokane, WA 99224, USA.

Schedule
  • Rotating between day/night shift every 6 weeks.
  • Starting Pay: $19/hr.
  • Shift differential of $2.25/hr paid on both day and night shifts.
  • Additional 16 hours/month on average of built-in overtime.
Responsibilities
  • You will be part of a team-oriented atmosphere and interact with other functional groups (e.g., engineering) on technical matters.
  • You will set up CNC machines and run parts (training provided).
  • You will follow a weekly Preventative Maintenance process.
  • You will follow applicable instructions (WI, SOP, reference documents).
  • You will use precision gauging tools (including CMM), verifying gauge calibration (micrometers, calipers, drills, inserts, etc.).
  • You will identify and document out-of-spec conditions.
  • You will complete daily machine inspections, calibration verification.
  • You will follow First Piece Inspection procedure, tools, inserts and their functions.
  • You will adhere to all safety policies (Collins Aerospace Cardinal Rules).
  • You will participate in 5S/continuous improvement processes (ACE).
  • You will observe and follow all environmental, health and safety procedures.
  • You will comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • You will maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • You will adhere to all engineering instruction, standard operation procedures, and all departmental procedures.
  • You will have the ability to prioritize tasks under constantly changing conditions where ingenuity and judgment are required.
  • You will work 4 days on/4 days off – 12-hour shifts, rotating days to nights every 6 weeks.
Learning Opportunities
  • Gain knowledge of all pertinent customer and company specifications including international standards relating to the production of carbon‑carbon brake components & company policies.
  • Complete all training as assigned in the allotted time.
  • Learn to set up CNC machines and run parts.
  • Learn to use forklift and pallet jack.
  • Learn to use riveters both manual and automated.
  • Learn to use scales, calipers, micrometers.
  • Learn to use bar code scanning equipment.
  • Learn to use various tools (mixes, hotplates, etc.).
  • Learn to operate the automated oxidation coating station.
  • Learn to operate oxidation bake‑out ovens.
  • Learn to operate power and pneumatic equipment.
Qualifications – Must Have
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status).
  • Manufacturing or similar industry related experience.
Qualifications – Prefer
  • Experience with G&M codes, Macro programming and editing process.
