Obstetrics Technician

Overview

The Maternity Tech functions within his/her scope of practice under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse to provide indirect care related to the obstetrical patient. The Maternity Technician functions as the "scrub technologist" in the C-section suite and other clinical areas, including selection and set-up of the sterile table with instruments, supplies and equipment; passing instruments to the surgeon during the procedure;

maintaining sterile technique and caring for instruments following the procedure. The Maternity Technician is also expected to assist in vaginal deliveries and perform designated unit and clerical functions.

• Serve as the scrub technologist in the C-section suite and other clinical areas, including preparation of the sterile table with instruments, passing instruments to the surgeon, maintaining sterile technique, and caring for instruments after the procedure.
• Assist in vaginal deliveries.
• Perform designated unit and clerical functions.

• Coursework/Training:
  Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent combination of education and directly related work experience.
• Upon hire:
  Washington Surgical Technologist Registration
• Upon hire:
  National Provider BLS - American Heart Association

• Upon hire:
  Provider NRP - American Academy of Pediatrics
• Recent experience as an OB Scrub Tech or surgical technologist in an acute care facility.

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate s placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
