Volunteers of America (VOA) Spokane is a licensed behavioral health organization serving individuals experiencing housing instability. We do not operate traditional clinics. Instead, our behavioral health services are delivered directly within shelters, supported housing, medical respite, and other community-based programs.

The populations we serve include youth, young adults, veterans, individuals in housing support programs, and people in medical respite

About The Role

The Behavioral Health Clinician provides integrated, community-based behavioral health services to participants enrolled in VOA programs.

We are open to hiring clinicians who have completed their master’s degree and are working toward licensure
, as well as those who are already licensed
. This includes clinicians pursuing or holding licensure such as LMSW, LMHC, or LMFT
.

This role is ideal for clinicians who want to practice outside of traditional office settings and are comfortable working with people who may be experiencing acute mental health symptoms, substance use, housing instability, and crisis. Clinical work is embedded in daily program life and delivered in partnership with interdisciplinary teams.

Schedule

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). Core hours are generally Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., with some flexibility based on program needs.

Occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays may be required.

What You’ll Do

• Provide individual and group behavioral health services using trauma-informed, person-centered, and evidence-based approaches
• Deliver integrated behavioral health care within shelters, supported housing, medical respite, and other community-based settings
• Complete biopsychosocial assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, safety plans, and progress notes
• Support participants during crises, coordinating with SUD Professionals, case managers, peer support, and other program staff
• Collaborate closely with housing and support teams to provide wrap-around, whole-person care
• Support participants in building coping skills, emotional regulation, and stability within their living environments
• Participate in supervision, team meetings, and required trainings
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with licensing, funder, and agency requirements

Requirements

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field
• Eligible for Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC) credential and ability to apply within 30 days of hire
• Experience working with individuals impacted by mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and/or housing instability
• Willingness to work in community-based, non-traditional clinical environments
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to maintain auto insurance
• Ability to pass required background checks, including DCYF and exclusion list screening

Preferred (Not Required)

• Active licensure (LMSW, LMHC, LMFT)
• Experience working in integrated care, housing, shelter, or crisis-oriented settings
• Familiarity with Housing First, harm reduction, and wrap-around care models
• Experience using EHRs or client databases such as Credible or HMIS
